The Mafia party game on your phones, with no cards and no narrator

Mafia is the classic social deduction party game, also known as Werewolf. A secret gang of Mafia members hides among the townspeople, and the town has to find them through discussion and voting before the Mafia takes over.

This site turns every player’s phone into a secret role card. You don’t need a deck of cards or someone sitting out as narrator: the app deals roles at random, runs the night and day, counts the votes, and announces the winner. One person creates a room and everyone else joins by scanning a QR code.

How to start a game

  1. Open the site, type your name, and tap Create room.
  2. Your friends scan the QR code on your screen, or type the 4-letter room code.
  3. Pick the roles yourself or tap Suggest roles for a balanced setup, then set the discussion time.
  4. Tap Deal roles & start. Each player sees their role on their own phone only.

How a round works

  1. Reveal: each player taps their card to see their role in secret. Mafia members also see their partners.
  2. Night: players with abilities choose a target on their phone. Everyone else gets a decoy “who do you suspect?” screen, so nobody can guess roles from screen activity.
  3. Day: the night’s victims are announced and a discussion timer starts.
  4. Voting: everyone votes on who to eliminate, or skips. A tie or a skip majority means nobody leaves.
  5. Game over: all roles are revealed, and the host can start a new round with fresh roles and the same players.

Frequently asked questions

How many players do you need for Mafia?

At least 4, and a room holds up to 24. Games are usually best with 7 to 12 players.

How many Mafia members should there be?

A good rule is about one Mafia member for every 4 players, with a Godfather from 7 players up. The “Suggest roles” button works this out for you.

Do I need to download an app?

No. The game runs in your phone’s browser, with no account or sign-up.

Can we play remotely?

Yes. When the site is online, share the room link or code, and talk over a voice or video call.

Do we need a narrator?

No, the app runs the whole game. If you want a human narrator, the host turns off “I play too” and narrates instead.
